The last days of the Baldwin Motel on Washington Boulevard.

Made famous in April 2001 when Robert Downey Jr. was arrested while hanging out here. At the time he was on parole for prior drug arrests, having a loaded .357 Magnum revolver in his car, and for breaking into his neighbor's house and passing out in their child's bed.

According to the arrest report, Downey emitted a "strong odor of an alcoholic beverage" and "rambled on without any questions being addressed to him." As the police officer patted him down, Downey repeatedly tried to turn around, so the officer had to grab his arms and press him up against the patrol vehicle. I wish I had a photo of that.
